Here is what you need to know to successfully wrap up the school year and get ready for the next.
-
Progress Reports: Progress Reports were shared electronically via ParentSquare on Friday afternoon. Families will need to log into their ParentSquare account to view it. If you have trouble accessing the document, contact parentsquare@monroeps.org
-
Medications: If your child has medication at school (inhalers, epipen, etc.) it needs to be picked up. Call the main office beforehand and let us know what time you are coming. (203) 452-2923 or fhoffice@monroeps.org Remember, Mrs. Ganino is not here over the summer.
-
Reading: Your child's teacher shared information about Book Bingo. Set aside time to read. Summer reading is one of the most important ways students can maintain and strengthen their literacy skills. Avoid a "summer slide" and ensure they return to school ready to learn. Reading each day builds vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension, and a lifelong love of reading. And, it exposes children to new ideas, characters, and perspectives. If Book Bingo is complete, we will celebrate with popsicles in the fall.
-
School Calendar: Next year's school calendar is HERE. The first day for students is August 31. Both August 31 and September 1 are early dismissal days for students.
-
Welcome Letters and Supply List: Your child came home with a supply list and a welcome letter from their new teacher. If you did not receive it, contact fhoffice@monroeps.org
-
Transportation: We will be finalizing our bus rosters and permanent pick up rosters in early August. We will share a Google Form asking for confirmation of your child's plan (bus to home, bus to childcare center, or parent pick up.)
-
Learning Hub: Check out Connecticut's Learning Hub HERE. It has free, high quality learning activities with printable resources across multiple subjects. It was designed for families, educators, and districts to help children continue their learning over the summer.

Final Thoughts: Our final week of school was filled with celebrations like Step Up Day, the 5th Grade Reflection Ceremony, the Clap Out, the Parade of Graduates, and classroom parties. These special events provided opportunities for students to celebrate their accomplishments and reflect on their growth throughout the year. After having met their teacher and new learning space, they are also excited for a new year. This past week, we also recognized several valued staff members who will be starting a new chapter next year. Congratulations to Mr. Carbone on his retirement. We also extend our best wishes to Mrs. Fedell, Ms. Teskey, and Ms. Tupy as they begin new teaching positions in Newtown and Monroe. We will miss you! Families, on behalf of the entire Fawn Hollow staff, thank you for your partnership, support, and trust throughout the school year. We are deeply grateful for all you do to support not only your own children, but also our teachers, staff, and larger school community
